Five Kestrel Chicks Take Flight
This season, a pair of common kestrels (Falco tinnunculus) had an exceptional year, successfully raising five chicks.
From the first eggs in spring to the flurry of hunting trips and constant feeding, both parents worked tirelessly. Within weeks, the nest turned from a bundle of downy fluff into five sharp-eyed youngsters testing their wings.
By late June, all five chicks took their first flights—an outstanding achievement that highlights both strong parenting and a season rich in prey. Watching them grow and finally take to the skies was a vivid reminder of nature’s resilience and beauty.
